Prof. Sheikh Morshed Jahan, a tenured business school professor at IBA, University of Dhaka, has more than 30 years of experience in teaching, research, supervision, capacity building, and advising. Prof. Jahan teaches courses in economics, innovation and entrepreneurship, business strategy, project management, and Bangladesh studies. Prof. Jahan also served as a Teaching and Research Fellow at Duke University, USA and as a member of United Nations ESCAP Advisory Panel on SME Development which contributed to its Policy Guidelines for SME Development in Asia and the Pacific.
Prof. Jahan’s work in the field of international development policy includes such themes as global value chains and international competitiveness, SME promotion, international trade, inclusive growth, market and business ecosystem development, and sustainable development. His work in the field of business and corporate advising involves market research, feasibility studies, investment analysis, leadership development, growth management, business model development, marketing, and strategic advising.
Prof. Jahan has completed 40+ international development policy assignments under donor-funded projects of, for example, the World Bank (Washington DC), UNDP (Singapore/Malaysia), UN-ESCAP (Thailand), ASEAN Economic Research Institute, USAID, SDC, UKaid, Danida, CIDA, EKN, etc.). While most of his work involved Bangladesh, some of his assignments were carried out in such countries as Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Lao PDR, Cambodia, Nepal, Bhutan, Thailand, Philippines, USA, etc.
Prof. Jahan has authored/co-authored five books and research monographs published by United Nations ESCAP (Thailand) on global value chains, international trade competitiveness, regional connectivity, and SMEs’ integration into the global economy. He published 50+ scholarly articles, research papers, and book chapters in national and international peer-reviewed journals, books, and conference proceedings.
