Dr. Asim Das is currently working as an Associate Professor at the Department of Special Education, Institute of Education and Research (IER), University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. As soon as he completed his graduation from University of Dhaka in 2003, he joined Directorate of Primary Education as an Education Officer (Teacher Training) under Ministry of Primary and Mass Education (MoPME). After two years of civil service he was awarded the Monbukagakusho (MEXT) Scholarship of Japanese Government in 2008 for higher study. He attended reputable Hiroshima University and completed his PhD in Education in March 2013 with excellent academic performance. Afterward, Dr. Asim was appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Educational Development in Graduate School of International Development and Cooperation, Hiroshima University. Then being awarded a MEXT-funded Post-Doctoral Fellowship he worked as a Research Fellow in the same university. During his doctoral study, he also worked as an English Language Teacher at an elementary school in Hiroshima for three years and was nominated for International Cultural Fellowship from two different organizations. Apart from study in Japan, Dr. Asim has travelled to China, India, Thailand, South Korea, Vietnam, Philippines, Italy, Malaysia, France and Indonesia for academic and professional purposes. He has presented his research works in several international conferences in different countries and has published a good number of research articles in different national and international journals. He conducted various research projects including program baseline, program intervention and evaluation of United Nations University (Tokyo), UNESCO, UNICEF, World Bank, ADB, NAEM, BANBEIS, Save the Children International, Plan International, Handicap International, Room to Read, BRACU-IED, Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP). Dr. Das has recently accomplished an assignment on Capacity Building of Government Officials under Reaching Out of School Children (ROSC-Phase-II Project) as a Key-Expert, UNICEF-funded Quality Primary Education project implemented by Room to Read Bangladesh as Inclusion and Gender Consultant, and Ministry of Education-funded project on Transition of Children with disabilities from Special education to Mainstream education as Team Leader, and currently working as Co-Investigator-1 of accessibility and inclusion in Dhaka University Project and Consultant for Early Diagnosis of Developmental Delays and Disabilities project of Save the Children International. His areas of interest include Inclusive and Special Needs Education, Autism and NDD, Gender-responsive pedagogy, Teacher Education, Early Childhood and Primary Education, International Cooperation in Education.
