Exchanges views regarding academic collaboration

 An eleven-member delegation led by Prof. Ning Qi, Vice President of Peking University, China called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan today August 11, 2025 at the VC’s Meeting Room of the university. Other team members were Prof. Li Shujing, Prof. Wu Jiewei, Prof. Wang Hao, Prof. Dr. Wang Xu, Prof. Zhang Xing, Prof. Shi Yue, Zhang Yabing, Ma Yuchen and students Cen Siyi & Jin Yunhao.

Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) of DU Prof. Dr. Sayema Haque Bidisha, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. Mamun Ahmed and Treasurer Prof. Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury were present on this occasion.

 During the meeting they discussed matters of mutual interests specially the possibilities of strengthening ongoing joint collaborative academic and research programs on science & technology, environment, language and culture between Dhaka University and Peking University, China. Exchange of teachers, students and cultural teams between the two universities were also discussed in the meeting. Besides, they exchanged views about signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Dhaka University and Peking University to promote academic and research collaboration.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan said, the historical relationship in the fields of trade, business, education, language and culture between Bangladesh and China has been prevailing for about 2 thousand years. He stressed the need for exchange of teachers, students and researchers between the two institutions for strengthening this friendly relationship. DU VC emphasized on enhancing communication among different faculties and individual levels for making effective academic and research collaboration. He thanked the Chinese Government for providing all possible support to construct a residential hall for DU female students.

Vice President of Peking University Prof. Ning Qi expressed her willingness to undertake more joint collaborative academic and research programs between these two institutions.

DU VC thanked the guests for their visit to Dhaka University and keen interest in its academic and research activities.

Earlier, Prof. Wu Jiewei and Prof. Dr. Wang Xu delivered two separate lectures on “A Comparative Analysis of Labor Dynamics in the Era of Globalization: Case Study of Bangladesh, Vietnam & the Philippines” and “People-Centred Economic Development on National Security: Experience of China for Bangladesh” respectively at Prof. Abdul Matin Chowdhury Virtual Classroom of the university. DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. Mamun Ahmed presided over this event while Vice President of Peking University Prof. Ning Qi addressed it. Director of DU International Affairs Office Prof. Dr. Shamsad Mortuza presented a documentary on DU academic and cultural activities.
