Historical Masterda Surja Sen Hall is one of the largest halls of this university. It is the most important hall in terms of its location. Surja Sen Hall has a glorious past.
The foundation stone was laid in April 1964 to resolve the accommodation problem of university students. The construction work ended in 1966 and it was named Muhammad Ali Zinnah Hall. This large hall, built in two blocks having 382 rooms on 4 acres of land, received approval as Masterda Surja Sen Hall by the students in March 1971 and by the syndicate in June 1972.
There is a flower garden, two artificial water pools, and a fountain in the middle of the hall. Among the most remarkable architecture of this hall, there is a Shaheed Minar, a sculpture named “ Smritir Janala” (Window of Memory) constructed in memory of the students and teachers of this hall who were martyred in the liberation war in 1971, and a mural of Masterda Surja Sen. The hall is located 100 meters north-west of the Faculty of Business Administration. Sir P. J. Hartog is located on its east, Bijoy Ekttor on its north, and University administrative building on its south.
Since its inception, Surja Sen Hall has been playing a significant role in the education, culture, and economy of the country. Upon completion of their education, the meritorious students of the hall, have been achieving incredible success in their respective workplaces and thus have been contributing significantly to the greater interest of the country, national development, and economic growth.
