MFA (Master of Fine Art) Program
Effective from 2013-2014 Session, Revised in 2016
The goal of the MFA Program is to prepare students to be capable of research and experimentation in the field of art and in the field of sculpture in particular. It focuses on expanding the scope and depth of knowledge, and developing an analytical attitude about sculpture and, increasing the consciousness of the larger social, political, historical and, therefore, the cultural heritage to help to create an understanding of the possibilities and significance of art. This program is designed as a preparatory stage to create awareness about the role of art in the real world and how to play an active role in the art world in the future. Experiments in technology innovated in contemporary times will be included in this program.
Students will complete the MFA program with the aim of developing their individual concepts, language and projects. Special emphasis is placed on the role of the theoretical courses included in the program for students to find their own path on the basis of discussions, critiques and analyses of the history of world art and the present context.
Teachers will observe and evaluate the works of the students regularly and will provide proper guidance tailored to the need to develop individual students.
The MFA program following the BFA program will be of a duration of 2 years. Students who have passed the four-year BFA program will be eligible to be admitted to the MFA program. Students will be promoted to the 2nd Part after passing the 1st Part. The final result will be calculated after the MFA 2nd Part examination and by summing the total marks of the two Parts.
