On the morning of August 9, 2024, the closing ceremony for the Bangladeshi Young Diplomats Delegation's Visit to China took place at the Lecture Hall of Yifu Classroom Building in Beijing Language and Culture University. Zhang Baojun, Vice President of Beijing Language and Culture University, attended the ceremony and delivered a welcome speech. President Chen Dongxiao of the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS) attended online and also delivered a speech. President Chen commended the accomplishments made by the Bangladeshi Young Diplomats Delegation during the 10-day visit to Shanghai and Beijing. He noted that their on-site research and insightful observations had enabled them to further understand the logic behind China’s changes, development, and progress, and gain a deeper understanding of Chinese path, culture and systems. President Chen pointed out emphatically that both China and Bangladesh are developing countries and members of the Global South, each with profound historical and cultural heritage as well as political traditions distinct from those of the West. Amid the unprecedented changes unseen in a century that the world is undergoing, it is more urgent than ever for developing countries to maintain internal unity and stability, foster mutual tolerance among different political forces, and reach consensus on national development paths through genuine democratic consultation while avoiding external interference. President Chen expressed his hope and belief that in the future, all the members of the Bangladeshi Young Diplomats Delegation will make more contributions to Bangladesh’s peace, stability, and prosperity, and will help to further strengthen the friendship and cooperation between China and Bangladesh.
