During April 20 to 23, 2026, the Centre for China Studies(CCS) invited Associate Professor Li Zheng,Institute of Vocational & Adult Education, East China Normal University of China, to visit Bangladesh and deliver lectures, which is aiming to promote academic exchanges between China and Bangladesh.
During his visit, Prof.Li visited University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh(ULAB), the University of Dhaka(DU). Dr.Li Hongmei, the Deputy director of CCS,Nabila Tabassum,program officer of CCS also attend.

On April 21, Prof.Li delivered a lecture titled “VTE in the Age of Artificial Intelligence” to faculty and students at ULAB. The event was chaired by Professor Shamsad Mortuza, Vice-Chancellor of ULAB. In his lecture, Prof.Li conducted an in-depth discussion on how artificial intelligence is reshaping the global employment landscape and how individuals can prepare in advance to adapt to technological change.

He noted the impact of AI on occupations includes three aspects: substitution, empowerment, and creation of new occupations. He further explained that while AI has its own strengths—such as Pattern recognition in large datasets,Repetitive, rule-based tasks,Speed and scale in information processing ,Generating content from existing patterns. However it also has inherent limitations, including Complex ethical and moral judgment, Deep empathy and emotional intelligence,Novel creative problem-solving in unfamiliar contexts,Cross-cultural negotiation and trust-building, Physical dexterity in unstructured environments.He proposed five pillars of global career competence in the AI era. During the lecture, students and faculty actively engaged in discussion and Q&A sessions.


On April 22, Prof. Li Zheng delivered a lecture at the Institute of Education and Research, University of Dhaka, titled “Building a Skilled Workforce in AI era:China's VTE Reform and its Insights”.The lecture focused on the current development of China’s vocational education and training (VET) system, the core strategies for VET development, and China’s VET reforms under the context of artificial intelligence. The session was chaired by Professor Fazlur Rahman of the Institute of Education and Research.Regarding the core strategies for VET development, Prof.Li emphasized that strong government investment and leadership are essential, including fiscal support, the development of public infrastructure, National teaching standards and State Capacity. He further highlighted the importance of Integration of Industry and Education & School-Enterprise Cooperation, Competency-Based Curriculum and international cooperation.He then introduced how China is systematically advancing the reform of its VET system in the context of artificial intelligence, particularly how AI is being leveraged to empower vocational education and training.

After that,Prof. Li joined the program of “China Focus” interview by the CMG and the local television station RTV. The discussion focused on the impact of robotics development on Bangladesh’s manufacturing sector, as well as ways to strengthen China–Bangladesh cooperation in robotics and artificial intelligence.
