The Institute of Modern Languages (IML), University of Dhaka organized a “Book Handover Ceremony” to receive a good number of Books on Japanese society, culture, business manners etc. of Japan under the Nippon Foundation’s Read Japan Project. The ceremony was held on 11th September 2023 at 3pm at the Auditorium of the IML. The Nippon Foundation donated books on Japanese culture, society, politics etc. written in English.
At the beginning of the ceremony Prof. Dr. Mohammed Ansarul Alam, Head of the Dept. of Japanese Language and Culture delivered his speech explaining the content of the project. H. E. Mr. IWAMA Kiminori, Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh were present as Chief Guest. In his speech Japanese Ambassador appreciated the gradual development of the JLC, IML in the academia and hoped these books will be useful for all the students and researchers in this field. The program was presided over by Professor Dr. A.B.M. Razaul Karim Faquire, Director of the IML, University of Dhaka. Prof. Faquire also emphasized about the content of the newly introduced Bachelor and Masters program of the JLC.
After the ceremony H. E. Mr. IWAMA Kiminori, Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh visited the ongoing Japanese language classroom and teachers room construction project under the Grant assistance for Cultural Grassroots Project (GCGP). Prof. Dr. Mohammed Ansarul Alam, Project Director of this GCGP explained the progress of the project. Among the others Dr. Md. Monir Uddin and Mr. Md. Nurul Islam Mujib, Assistant Professor of the JLC and Mr. YAMAMOTO Kyohei of the EoJ were present.
