A two-day long International Conference on ‘Mapping Gendered Spaces in Language, Literature and Culture’ has begun today May 04, 2023 at RC Majumdar Arts Auditorium of Dhaka University (DU). DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated this conference as chief guest. The Department of English of DU has organized this event.
Professor of the Department of English of DU Dr. Fakrul Alam presided over the inaugural session while Dean of the Faculty of Arts Prof. Dr. Abdul Bashir addressed it as special guest. Former Dean of the Faculty of Arts of Calcutta University Prof. Dr. Sanjukta Dasgupta delivered key-note speech. Chairperson of the Department of English Prof. Zerin Alam gave welcome address. Conference Convener Prof. Dr. Shamsad Mortuza also addressed it.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman stressed the need for ensuring gender equality to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. We have to remove all sorts of obstacles in this regard, he added. He called upon all to equip themselves with humanitarian values to make an inclusive society.
It may be mentioned that academicians and experts from different universities of Bangladesh and abroad are participating in this conference.
