15 May, 2025: From 13 to 15 May 2025, a Training of Trainers (ToT) program titled “How to Make Top Management Aware of Cybersecurity (TMA)” was held at the Auditorium of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Dhaka. This training was conducted under the B-TopCS Program with the support of JICA, in collaboration with the Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) and the University of Dhaka. The ToT is part of a broader JICA initiative that began with a Master Training program held in mid-April 2025 in Indonesia in partnership with the University of Indonesia, focusing on three core areas of cybersecurity awareness.
Seven Bangladeshi trainers who participated in the Master Training in Indonesia represented prestigious institutions including University of Dhaka (DU), North South University (NSU), East West University (EWU), BRAC University, United International University (UIU), and Gazipur Digital University (GDU).
Participants of this ToT represented a wide cross-section of Bangladesh’s digital and academic ecosystem, including representatives from government organizations such as BCC, National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA), Bangladesh Bank, and SME Foundation; private sector entities like Pipeline Bangladesh Ltd.; and academic institutions including Jagannath University (JnU), Rajshahi University (RU), Green University of Bangladesh (GUB), and Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology (DUET).
The opening session on 13 May 2025 was graced by Professor Dr. Upama Kabir, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, University of Dhaka, as the Chief Guest. Throughout the program, Mr. SHOJI Akihiro, JICA Long-Term Expert and Chief Advisor of the JICA-BCC-BASIS TCP, and Ms. KATSUKI Naho, JICA Long-Term Expert and Project Coordinator, were present as representatives of JICA.
The closing session on 15 May 2025 was attended by Engr. Md. Golam Sarwar, Director, BD-ITEC, Bangladesh Computer Council; Ms. IHA Chinatsu, Representative, JICA Bangladesh; and Professor Dr. Hafiz Md. Hasan Babu, Department of CSE, University of Dhaka.
Professor Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaque, Chairman of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Dhaka, served as one of the trainers during the program and delivered the closing remarks.
