The Department of Finance, University of Dhaka proudly hosted the Orientation Program for the MPF 18th Batch (Session 2026–2027) on 4 July 2026 at the Professor Dr. Abdullah Farouk Multipurpose Hall, FBS. More than 80 newly admitted students joined us for an evening full of inspiration, wisdom, and warm welcomes — fittingly, in the very month our Department was founded 52 years ago.
The program began with recitation from the Holy Qur'an, followed by a heartfelt welcome from our Distinguished Guest, Professor Dr. H. M. Mosarof Hossain, Chairman, Department of Finance. He reminded students of the Department's rich legacy and glory, and urged them to utilize their fullest potential during their journey with us.
Special Guest Dr. Md. Touhidul Alam Khan FCMA, CSRA, Managing Director & CEO, NRBC Bank PLC — and a proud alumnus of our Department — shared invaluable lessons from his own journey to the top of the banking industry. His mantras resonated with everyone: "Work hard, success will follow." Own your organization. Don't always link effort with immediate reward. Never tire of learning. He also encouraged students to explore emerging fields such as forensic auditing and its immense potential.

Chief Guest, Professor Dr. Mahmood Osman Imam, Dean, Faculty of Business Studies, encouraged students to remain enthusiastic learners and to make the most of every facility the Department offers. He highlighted a distinctive strength of the MPF program — its ACCA accreditation, which allows MPF graduates to earn the ACCA qualification by appearing in only four ACCA exams — a rare blend of academic depth and professional recognition.
Professor Shabbir Ahmad, Member, MPF Coordination Committee, advised students to take the degree seriously from the very first semester and extract maximum value from it.
Professor Dr. Shaikh Shamsuddin Ahmed, Coordinator, MPF Program, reminded students of the Department's unmatched resources — a highly qualified, foreign-trained doctorate faculty unlike any other finance department in the country. He urged students to be inquisitive, embrace dialogue-based learning, remain disciplined and accountable throughout their graduation journey, and to reach out to him for any assistance.
MPF Program Administrative Officer Mr. Nazmul Hossen concluded the program by thanking all guests, faculty members, and students.
