Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, a frontier discipline of modern science, has facilitated revolutionary developments in the fields of agriculture, industry, health and environment by genomic modification of animals, plants and microorganisms. The department started its journey at the Science Workshop in 2001. After nine long years it was transferred to the fifth floor of Science Complex Building by the endeavors of the then acting chairperson (Professor Dr. Mohammed Nazmul Ahsan) in 2009.
