Two meritorious and financially challenged students of the Department of Economics have been awarded ‘Dhaka University (DU) Economics 1976 Memorial Trust Fund Scholarship’ for their outstanding academic performances. The recipients of the scholarship are Md. Abdullah Al Sakib and Sadia. DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal handed over this scholarship to the recipients as chief guest at a function held today February 11, 2024 at VC office lounge of the university.

It may be mentioned that students of batch 1976 of DU Economics Department had donated money to establish this Trust Fund for providing scholarship to financially challenged first year Undergraduate students of the department.

DU Treasurer Prof. Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed presided over the function while Registrar Probir Kumar Sarker, Director of DU Public Relations Office Mahmood Alam, donors’ representatives— former Information Commissioner Suraiya Begum, Romendro Chandra Basak, Golam Hafiz Ahmed and Ameer Abdul Wahab were present on this occasion.

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal congratulated the awardees. He urged the students to equip themselves with humanitarian and moral values. He urged other alumni of different batches of the university to come forward with their helping hands for financially challenged students following the example of batch 1976 of DU Economics Department.
