Deputy Director of Federal Agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Mr. Shevtsov Pavel called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal today February 19, 2024 at the latter’s office of the university.  He was accompanied by Counsellor of Russian Embassy and Director of Russian House in Dhaka Mr. Pavel A. Dvoychenkov.

During the meeting they discussed the possibilities of strengthening ongoing joint collaborative academic and research programs among the University of Dhaka and different universities in Russia. They stressed the need for undertaking more academic and research activities on science, technology, medicine and culture among Dhaka University and different Russia universities. They exchanged views regarding expansion and development of Russian language course at the Institute of Modern Languages (IML) of DU. The establishment of Russian Studies Centre at DU was also discussed in the meeting.

Deputy Director of Russian Federal Agency expressed his willingness to provide scholarship for DU young faculties and students for higher study in Russia. They also discussed about arranging of workshop, seminar, symposium, conference and training programs on science and technology under the joint auspices of Dhaka University and Russian universities. They have agreed to sign a MoU in this regard soon.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal thanked the guest for his visit to Dhaka University and keen interest in its academic activities. He said the friendly relationship between Bangladesh and Russia has been prevailing for long time. The VC also recalled with gratitude the all-out support and cooperation of Russian government and people during our Liberation War in 1971.
