A day-long workshop on ‘The Bengal Water Machine and Sustainable Groundwater Development in Bangladesh’ was held today July 24, 2023 at the seminar room of the Department of Geology of Dhaka University (DU). DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal attended the workshop as chief guest.
Presided over by Prof. Dr. Kazi Matin Ahmed the workshop was addressed by Dean of DU Earth and Environmental Sciences Faculty Prof. Dr. Md. Zillur Rahman as special guest. Besides, Chairman of Geology Department Prof. Dr. Subrota Kumar Saha, Prof. Richard Taylor and Dr. Mohammad Shamsudduha also addressed it.
Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal discussed the Bengal Water Machine in Bangladesh and focused on challenges and opportunities of its operation for sustainable groundwater development. He emphasized on increasing public awareness of groundwater resources for food security in Bangladesh. Recommendations of this workshop would play an effective role to develop groundwater resources, he hoped.
Researches, stakeholders, teachers and students from universities and organizations participated at this workshop.
