A special lecture on `The Two-State Solution at a Crossroads: What Future for Palestine?` was held today 11 October 2026 at the Department of International Relations of Dhaka University (DU). UNESCO Chair of An-Najah National University Palestine Prof. Dr. Sanaa Alsarghali delivered the lecture. Chairman of the Department of International Relations Prof. Dr. A. S. M. Ali Ashraf presided over the session.
Prof. Dr. Sanaa Alsarghali said, there was a way for the Palestinian in September, 2025. Before that it was the advisor of the justice right talk about this is illegal occupation and for those countries who are still believing in the international law, and they pushed for the New York Declaration. So, the New York Declaration was very much an international initiative done by France and Sweden. And the idea was it to maybe activate the two-state solution. Activate the two-state solution, try to find the solution for what's happening in Palestine. And at the same time, recognizing a Palestinian state that That is liveable and democratic.
One of the conditions for this Palestinian state to be liveable and liveable is something that is very much outside the hands of the Palestinians. But for this is said to be democratic they asked the Palestinian authority to do various reforms. One of those international involved reforms are reforms that are by Palestinian hands and one of them are imposed, she added. There are new realities of the world. You have to speak to them. You're talking about a state that could recognize even though if this state is under occupation, she also mentioned.
