The 30th Mukarram Hussain Khundker Memorial Lecture was held today, April 27, 2017 at the MHK Biggyan Bhaban of the university. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique adressed the program as the chief guest. The Department of Chemistry of DU organized the event. Chairperson of DU Chemistry Department Prof Dr. Nilufar Nahar presided over the function while Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Aziz addressed it as the special guest. Professor of Toyohashi University of Technology, Japan Dr. Shinichi Itsunu delivered the Memorial Lecture titled “Synthesis of chiral polymers and their applications to asymmetric catalysis”.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique paid glowing tribute to the memory of late Professor Mukarram Hussain Khundker and said he was a presiding genius in the field of chemistry and chemical education in Bangladesh. He served as the Chair of DU Chemistry Department as well as the Dean of the Faculty of Science, the VC mentioned. Vice-Chancellor thanked the Japanese Professor for delivering Memorial Lecture. He said, the friendly ties between Bangladesh and Japan have been prevailing for long time. Dhaka University has got many ongoing collaborative academic and research projects with various Japanese universities, he added. “We have already decided to open a new teaching department titled the Department of Japanology at DU,” the VC pointed out. -------------- |
