A two-day long International Art Exhibition has begun today, April 20, 2017 at the Zainul Gallery of the Faculty of Fine Art of Dhaka University (DU). Vice-Chancellor of DU Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated the exhibition as the chief guest. The Faculty of Fine Art of DU and the Slade School of Fine Art of UCL, UK have jointly organized the exhibition in cooperation with the British Council, Dhaka.
Dean of the Faculty of Fine Art of DU Prof. Nisar Hossain presided over the inaugural session while Country Director of British Council Barbara Wickham and former Chairman of the UGC Prof. Dr. Nazrul Islam addressed it as the special guests. Professor of DU Sculpture Department Lala Rukh Selim delivered welcome address and Director of the Slade School of Fine Art of UCL, UK Prof. Dr. Susan Collins gave vote of thanks.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique said Dhaka University and British Council have been working together for development of education and research on various subjects including Fine Art, Journalism and English Learning & Teaching Methods at the university for long time. He thanked the British Council for providing an effective project tiled “International Strategic Partnership in Research and Education (INSPIRE)” to DU. He hoped that the bi-lateral relationship between DU and British Council as well as Bangladesh and UK would be strengthened further in the days to come.
