A day-long “First National Conference on Neuroscience Research in Bangladesh” was held today, April 15, 2017 at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban auditorium of the university. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated it as the chief guest. The Neuroscience Research Centre of DU (NRCDU) organized this event in cooperation with the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.

Director of DU Neuroscience Research Centre Prof. Dr. Md. Khalilur Rahman presided over the program while Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. M. Ismail Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences          Prof. Dr. M. Imdadul Hoque and Chairman of the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology Prof. Dr. M. Sayedul Islam addressed it as the special guests. Director of the National Institute of Neuroscience and Hospital Prof. Dr. Quazi Deen Mohammad presented key-note speech. Secretary of Organizing Committee Prof. Dr. Md. Zakir Hossain Howlader gave vote of thanks.

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique urged the doctors, academicians and researchers to conduct comprehensive research on neuroscience to cure brain related diseases of human being. They have to conduct ‘global standard research’ to face neurological problems, he added. The VC stressed the need for enhancement of basic research and clinical research on neuroscience to develop health sector in the country. He hoped that this conference would play an important role in this regard.

It may be mentioned that doctors, researchers and experts from different academic institutions, hospitals and research centers participated in the conference.
