A total of 37 students from different departments of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded “The Duke of Edinburgh International Award” for their success in various extra-curricular activities. Among them, 3 students received Silver Awards while 34 others Bronze Awards. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique distributed certificates among the students as chief guest at a function held today March 19, 2017 at the VC’s lounge of the university.
Director of Students Counseling & Guidance Office of DU Prof. Mahjabeen Haque presided over the function while National Director of the Duke of Edinburgh Award Foundation Prof. Dr. Khondaker Mohammod Shariful Huda and Chairman of the Executive Committee Rizwan-Bin-Farouk addressed it as special guests.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique in his speech congratulated the awardees. He said, students have to participate in extra-curricular activities along with their academic ones to make themselves as worthy citizen.
