A sixteen-member delegation led by Michael Sweikar, Managing Director of the University of Notre Dame, USA called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique today, March 13, 2017 at the latter’s office of the university. Chairman of Notre Dame University Bangladesh Fr. James Cruze and Chairman of the Department of World Religions & Culture of DU Dr. Fr. Tapan C. De Rozario were present on this occasion.          

            During the meeting they discussed various issues including the possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programs by the University of Dhaka and the University of Notre Dame, USA. DU Vice-Chancellor apprised the guests of a brief history of Dhaka University as well as Bangladesh.  A number of teachers and students of Dhaka University were brutally killed by the barbaric Pakistan Army during our Liberation War in 1971, he pointed out. He also recalled the all-out support and cooperation of US media and general public during our Liberation War.
