“Ashraf Dowla Memorial Scholarship” and “Ashraf Dowla Memorial Gold Medal” have been introduced at the Department of Pharmacy of Dhaka University (DU). M Anis Ud Dowla, father of late Ashraf Dowla and Chairman of ACI Ltd. handed over two separate cheques for Tk. 20 lac and Tk. 10 lac to DU Treasurer Prof.      Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin today October 2, 2016 at the Vice-Chancellor’s office to introduce these scholarship and gold medal.

Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy Prof. Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies Prof. Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam, Chairman of the Department of Pharmacy Prof. Dr. Sitesh Chandra Bachar, Chairman of the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology Prof. Dr. Md. Selim Reza, Prof. of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry Dr. Md. Abdur Rashid, Prof. of the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacology Dr. SM Abdur Rahman, Director of ACI Ltd. Najma Dowla, Managing Directors of same company Shusmita Anis, Dr. Arif Dowla and some other family members of the donor were present, among others, on this occasion.

Out of the income of this donation, every year one meritorious student who will secure the highest CGPA in B. Pharm final examination from the Department of Pharmacy of DU will be awarded “Ashraf Dowla Memorial Gold Medal.” Four more brilliant students of the department will be given scholarship.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Arefin Siddique thanked the donor for his donation. He also hoped that the students would be highly benefited and encouraged from this donation. The VC paid glowing tribute to the memory of Ashraf Dowla who died in a tragic accident in 1988.
