A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the University of Dhaka (DU) and the University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) of India was signed today May 12, 2016 at the Vice-Chancellor’s office of DU for educational & cultural enrichment, scientific progress and consolidation of friendship between Bangladesh and India. Vice-Chancellor of DU Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique and Vice-Chancellor of USTM Dr. PG Rao signed the MoU on behalf of their respective university.
Chancellor of USTM Mahbubul Hoque, Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh University of Health Sciences Prof. Liaqat Ali and some other faculties from DU and USTM were present on this occasion.
According to the MoU the two universities will work together to develop academic and research activities on peace and conflict transformation, water resource and solid waste management, women empowerment, micro finance and various ecological issues including development of Sunderbon area. They will also exchange students, faculties, administrators and share academic and research materials, publications and information. Besides, the two universities will jointly organize cultural programs.
