The inaugural function of ‘Law Clinic’ at the Department of Law of Dhaka University was held today 10 May 2016 at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban auditorium. Speaker of the National Parliament Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, MP and Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique were present there as chief guest and special guest respectively.

            Presided over by Chairman of the Department of Law Prof. Dr. Borhan Uddin Khan the function was addressed by Dean of the Faculty of Law Prof. Dr. Taslima Monsoor, Executive Director of Bangladesh Legal Aid Services Trust Barrister Sara Hossain, Team Leader of Community Legal Services Jerome Sayre, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ekramul Haque and Khan Md. Abdul Mannan.

            Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury thanked all concerned for introducing Clinical Legal Education Program at Dhaka University Law Department. She hoped that the students of Law Department would get practical knowledge about the judiciary from this Law Clinic.  

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique called upon the law students of the university to play key role to establish rule of law in the society. He said, all distressed, suppressed, oppressed and neglected general people including women and children must be given legal protection and in this regard law students as well as lawyers should come forward and stand beside them.
