A three-member delegation of internationally renowned environmentalists led by Dr. J Craig Jenkins, Professor of Sociology, Political Science and Environmental Science of Ohio State University, USA called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique today, April 25, 2016 at the latter’s office of the university. Other members of the delegation were Dr. Javier Chercoles, Team Leader of IDMVS-SIMON Project and Dr. Nazmun N. Ratna, Professor of Lincoln University, New Zealand.
Pro-Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh Open University Prof. Dr. Khandoker Mokaddem Hossain and Director of the Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies (IDMVS) Prof. Dr. Mahbuba Nasreen were present on this occasion.
During the meeting they stressed the need for strengthening on-going research programs on various environmental issues including disaster science and management jointly conducted by the University of Dhaka and Ohio State University, USA.
Earlier, the delegation members delivered their lectures in a day-long international seminar on “Challenges of Climate Change and Resilience” organized by the IDMVS of DU at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university.
