A five-member delegation led by Prof. Dr. Akira Harata, Dean of the Interdisciplinary Graduate School of Engineering Sciences of Kyushu University, Japan called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique today, March 20, 2016 at the latter’s office of the university. Other members of the delegation were Prof. Dr. Bidyut Baran Saha, Prof. Dr. Tanimoto Jun, Prof. Masafumi Nagaishi and Prof. Dr. Aya Hagishima of the same university.
Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology of DU Prof. Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam, Prof. of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Dr. Subrata Kumar Aditya, Chairman of the Department of Mathematics Prof. Dr. Amulya Chandra Mandal, Prof. Dr. Anwar Hossain, Associate Prof. Dr. Chandra Nath Podder and Assistant Prof. Dr. Litan Kumar Saha were present, among others, on this occasion.
During the meeting they discussed the possibilities of establishment of “Bangladesh-Japan Interdisciplinary Institute” at Dhaka University with the financial assistance from JICA. They also discussed the possibilities of introducing joint Masters and PhD programs between Dhaka University and Kyushu University, Japan.
