Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique urged the students to make them wise and worthy citizen through self-purification. He was addressing the orientation program of the first year Honors students of various departments under the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Biological Sciences and the Faculty of Engineering & Technology of Dhaka University (DU) today (Wednesday) March 09, 2016 at the TSC auditorium of the university. Students’ Counseling and Guidance Office of DU organized the program.
Director of Students’ Counseling and Guidance Office of DU Prof. Dr. Shaheen Islam presided over the function while Dean of the Faculty of Law Prof. Dr. Taslima Monsoor, Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences Prof. Dr. Md. Imdadul Hoque, Dean of the faculty of Engineering & Technology Prof. Dr. Rafiqul Islam and Acting Registrar Syed Rezaur Rahman addressed it as special guests.
Terming “Education is Light” as the mission statement of Dhaka University the VC said students must be equipped with this light to lighten up the society as well as the world. Mere achieving certificates or obtaining good results cannot bring benefit to the nations. Therefore, students have to make themselves as good human being, he added. Mentioning the March as the month of go forward the VC said we have to work together with the spirit of our Liberation War for socio- economic development of the country. He said the history of Bangladesh and that of Dhaka University are the same. The students of this university had played foremost role in the Liberation War. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was the student of this university, he mentioned.
