The renowned Geographer and Historian of France Dr. Brigitte Silberstein called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique today February 09, 2016 at the latter’s office of the university. Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) of DU Prof. Dr. Nasreen Ahmad was present on this occasion.

During the meeting they discussed various issues including socio- economic development in Bangladesh. They exchanged views regarding ongoing terrorism, extremism and political turmoil at different parts in the world. Bangladesh is a peaceful and liberal democratic county, the French Historian opined. The Vice-chancellor thanked the guest for her visit to Dhaka University.

It may be mentioned that Dr. Brigitte Silberstein delivered a special lecture on “Migrant in Europe” on 08 February 2016 (Monday) at the meeting room of the Department of Geography and Environment. DU Geography and Environment Department organized the program. Chairperson of the department Professor Dr. Hafiza Khatun, former Professor Dr. Rosie Mazid Ahsan, some other faculties and students of the department were present on the occasion.
