Maiden journey of a new department named ‘Mechatronics Eng. Dept.’ begins today at DU
Maiden journey of a new department named “Mechatronics Engineering Department” begins today (Monday), February 1, 2016 at Dhaka University (DU). The Department made its start with 3 highly qualified PhD holders faculty members and 16 First Year (Hons.) meritorious students. DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique formally inaugurated this new department as chief guest at a function held at his office lounge.
Presided over by newly appointed Chairman of the department Prof. Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Hassan Babu, the function was addressed by Dean of the Faculty of Engineering & Technology Prof. Dr. Rafiqul Islam as special guest, Nawara Mahmood Broti and Julkarnyne Tasin.
Welcoming the students to Dhaka University, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique congratulated them for becoming students of the first batch at Mechatronics Engineering Department. He said, Mechatronics Engineering is the top most and latest technology-based subject in the world. Despite some limitations, this department would be given a complete frame and shape very soon, the VC noted.
The Vice-Chancellor further said, Dhaka University is the oldest and highest seat of learning in Bangladesh. It has glorious past history and the students must uphold its images. The students of Mechatronics Engineering Department must play a vital and foremost role in making Bangladesh a digital one as per dream of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the VC added.
This new department has been housed at the 2nd floor of Kazi Motahar Hossain Biggan Bhaban (Science Annex Building) of the university.
