The certificate giving ceremony of a month-long international training program on “Gas Chromatography, Quantification and Quality Assurance” was held today January 28, 2016 at the Conference Room of the CARS of Dhaka University (DU). Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique distributed certificates among the participants as the chief guest. International Science Program (ISP), the Asian Network of Research on Food and Environment Contaminants (ANFEC) and the Network of Instrument Technical personnel and User scientists of Bangladesh (NITUB) jointly organized the program.
President of Bangladesh Academy of Sciences and NITUB Prof. Dr. Mesbahuddin Ahmad presided over the function while Ambassador of Sweden to Bangladesh Johan Frisell and Director of ISP Dr. Peter Sundin addressed it as special guests. Chairperson of the Department of Chemistry of DU Prof. Dr. Nilufar Nahar delivered welcome speech. Coordinator of ANFEC Dr. Kesiny Phomkeona also addressed it. Professor of the Department of Chemistry of DU Dr. Mohammad Shoeb gave vote of thanks. General Secretary of NITUB and Director of CARS of DU Prof. Dr. Altaf Hussain conducted the program.
Terming the chemistry is a very vital area for the development of a country Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique said, we have to upgrade the quality of chemistry education and research to enhance the quality of life. He hoped that this training program would enhance the quality of participants.
It may be mentioned that a total of 14 young teachers and researchers from Bangladesh, Cambodia and Louse participated in the program.
