Fifty eight meritorious students from various departments under the Faculty of Biological Sciences of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded “Dean’s Award” for their excellent academic results in BS Honors examinations of session 2013-14. Among them, 14 male and 44 female students have received this award.  Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique distributed the awards among the brilliant students at a function held today, (Thursday), 14 January 2016 at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university.

Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences Prof. Dr. M Imdadul Hoque presided over the function while Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. Nasreen Ahmad, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Dr. Shahid Akhtar Hossain and Treasurer Prof. Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin addressed it as special guests. Chairpersons of the various departments declared the names of awardees. Chairman of the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology Prof. Dr. Md. Sayedul Islam gave vote of thanks.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique urged the brilliant students to go forward after equipping themselves with the truth. He also called upon the students to prepare themselves with the combination of merit and honesty. Only academic results never bring benefit to the nations. Therefore, Dhaka University authorities are relentlessly trying to produce honest and patriotic citizen along with their academic excellence, he added. Terming the sixty DU teachers who are now living abroad without refunding money to the university, the VC said they are absolutely brilliant but not honest and patriotic.
