A new Trust Fund titled ‘Begum Maleka Anowar Trust Fund’ has been set up at the Department of Marketing of Dhaka University. Prof. Rashida Begum, daughter of late Begum Maleka Anowar and Director of Tetulia Tea Company Limited handed over a cheque for Taka 5 (five) lac to DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Dr. Shahid Akhtar Hossain today, January 5, 2016 at the Vice-Chancellor’s Office to set up this trust fund.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique, Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies Prof. Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam, Acting Registrar Syed Rezaur Rahman and other family members of the donor were present on this occasion.
Out of the income of this donation, every year two poor but meritorious female students of the Department of Marketing of Dhaka University will be awarded ‘Begum Maleka Anowar Trust Fund’ scholarships.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique thanked the donor and her family members for the donation to ‘Begum Maleka Anowar Trust Fund’ for the welfare of the Dhaka University students. He also urged other alumni of DU to come forward with their helping hands to patronize the brilliant students of the university.
It may be mentioned that Prof. Rashida Begum is a former student of the Department of Marketing of Dhaka University. Late Begum Maleka Anowar, mother of the donor had made outstanding contributions to promote female education in the country, although she was a housewife.
