Prof. Dr. Xiaochun Qiao of the Institute of Population Research, Peking University, China called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique today December 21, 2015 at the latter’s office of the university. Dr. Mohammad Mainul Islam of the Department of Population Sciences, DU was present on this occasion.

During the meeting they discussed various bi-lateral issues. Prof. Dr. Xiaochun Qiao highly praised socio-economic development of Bangladesh. Bangladeshi People are very humble and innocent, he opined. DU VC Prof. Arefin Siddique said, Bangladesh and China have excellent friendly relations. We are coming everyday closer to each other, the VC pointed out.

They underscored the need for enhancing south-south cooperation and collaboration. Dhaka University has many MoUs and joint academic and research collaboration with many universities in China, the VC informed.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique thanked the guest for his visit to Dhaka University and keen interest in strengthening mutual academic and research relationship.

Later, Prof. Dr. Xiaochun Qiao delivered a public lecture on “Family Planning Programs in China” at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban auditorium. Teachers and students of DU Population Sciences Department and others concerned attended it.
