A total of 17 students of various departments under the Faculty of Science of Dhaka University (DU) have been Awarded ‘Dean’s Award’ for their outstanding academic results in BS honours examination of 2013. Besides, 5 teachers of the Faculty of Science have received Dean’s Award for their extra-ordinary contribution in original research and writing books. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique distributed certificates among the awardees as chief guest at a function held today (Wednesday), December 09, 2015 at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university. 

            Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof. Dr. Mohammed Abdul Aziz presided over the function while Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. Nasreen Ahmad, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Dr. Shahid Akhtar Hossain and Treasurer                       Prof. Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin addressed it as special guests. Chairperson of the Department of Physics Prof. Dr. Nasima Ferdous delivered welcome speech while Chairman of the Department of Mathematics Prof. Dr. Amulya Chandra Mandal gave vote of thanks. Associate Prof. of the Department of Mathematics Dr. Chandra Nath Podder and Associate Prof. of the Institute of Statistical Research and Training Mrs. Jahida Gulshan conducted the program. 

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique urged the brilliant students to be responsible to the family, society, nation as well as the university.  He said, students have to prepare themselves with the combination of higher education, innovative thought and the spirit of Liberation War. He urged the brilliant students to equip themselves with moral values. Only academic results never bring benefit to the nations, he added. He called upon the students to eliminate selfishness  and play the objective role for the nation building.
Awardees teachers are Prof. Shapla Shirin (Mathematics), Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abul Hossain (Chemistry), Associate Prof. Dr. Md. Abdus Salam Akanda (Statistics, Biostatistics and Informatics), Assistant Prof. Dr. Md. Anamul Haque (Chemistry) and Assistant Prof.   Md. Mahfuzur Rahman Khokan (Statistics, Biostatistics and Informatics).

Awardees students are Armin Anwar (Physics), Khadija Khatun, Faizunnesa Khondaker, Farhana Akond Pramy, Md. Rabiul Awal (Mathematics), Md. Saiful Islam,      Md. Amjad Hossain (Chemistry), Mirajul Islam, Nasrin Sultana, Najiba Akter, Ashis Talukder, Zergina Zakir (Statistics, Biostatistics & Informatics), Md. Tuhin Sheikh, Tahmina Akter, Sylvi Pinky Chakrabarty, Shajratul Alam and Farha Ferdous Sheela (ISRT: Applied Statistics)
