A special seminar on “Morality in Rigved” organized by the Centre for Moral development of Dhaka University (DU) was held today (Sunday), November 29, 2015 at R.C Mojumder Arts Auditorium of the university.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique presided over the function while Dean of the Faculty of Arts Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman addressed it as special guest. Prof. Niranjan Adhikary of Sanskrit Department delivered key-note speech while Prof. Dr. Asim Sarkar addressed the seminar. Director of the Centre for Moral development of DU Prof. Dr. Galib Ahsan Khan conducted the program.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique urged the young generation to equip themselves with moral values. He said, the World civilization has been facing problems from unethical and immoral activities. Some brilliant students as well as educated people perform bad deeds in the society. Therefore, we need to produce rather morally developed citizen than meritorious one, he pointed out. He stressed the need for introducing ‘Moral Excellence Award’ in the educational institutions to inspire the young generation. He called upon the people to take lessons from the holy books to uplift morality.
