A day-long Bose seminar on “New Topological States of Quantum Matter” was held today (Wednesday), 25 November 2015 at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of Dhaka University. Bose Centre for Advanced Study and Research in Natural Sciences of Dhaka University (DU) organized the seminar.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique presided over the function while Dr. M. Zahid Hasan, Professor of the Department of Physics of Princeton University, USA delivered key-note speech. Dean of the Faculty of Science of DU Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Aziz and former Professor of DU Physics Department Dr. A. M. Harun-or-Rashid also addressed the function. Director of Bose Centre for Advanced Study and Research in Natural Sciences Prof. Shamima Chowdhury gave vote of thanks.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique in his speech stressed the need for strengthening scientific research and education in the country to face global challenges of the 21st century. He urged the young generation to make themselves global standard scientists through education and research properly. New generation must have to give more attention to science education to create symmetric society in the country, he added.
