The inaugural function of ‘Master of Actuarial Science (MAS)’ at the Department of Banking and Insurance of Dhaka University was held yesterday  08 November 2015 at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban auditorium. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique formally inaugurated this new MAS program as chief guest.

            Chairman of the Department of Banking and Insurance and Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies Prof. Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam presided over the function while Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) of DU Prof. Dr. Nasreen Ahmad, Chairman of the Sadharan Bima Corporation Dr. Mohammad Sohrab Uddin, Chairman of the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA) M Shefaque Ahmed Actuary and Regional Senior Vice-President of MetLife M. Nurul Islam addressed it as special guests. 

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique thanked the Department of Banking and Insurance for taking initiative to introduce MAS program at the university. He stressed the need for further expansion of this program to produce skilled manpower as well as develop insurance sector in the country. He hoped that the MAS program would play an effective role to create job opportunities for the brilliant students of the country.
