Maria Hussain is an Associate Professor in the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. She completed her BSS and MSS from Peace and Conflict Studies, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. As Commonwealth Scholar, she completed her MA in Peace Studies from the University of Bradford, The United Kingdom. Ms. Hussain is teaching in the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies for more than nine years. In addition to this, she has research experience with different national and international organisations, like- National Human Rights Commission, Bangladesh (NHRC); United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR); United Nations Development Programme (UNDP); University of Edinburgh, the United Kingdom and Dignity Danish Institute Against Torture; ActionAid Bangladesh; EdTechHub, the United Kingdom and Beyond Peace, Bangladesh. Ms. Hussain’s areas of interest are peace education, refugee protection and management, torture and violence against minorities, ethnic conflict, religion and peacemaking, media and conflict etc. Maria Hussain has published several research articles on forced migration and protection of Rohingya refugees, role of media in conflict, cultural diversity and peaceful coexistence in Bangladesh, Conflict mapping of Chittagong Hill Tracts etc.Read less
