Sumaia Ali Raisa is a Lecturer of Psychology at the University of Dhaka. She is currently on study leave for a Ph.D. in Learning Sciences and Human Development from West Virginia University, USA. Along with the Ph.D. study, she is also doing a master’s in Program Evaluation and Research and working as a graduate research assistant at the Program Evaluation and Research Center (PERC) at WVU. She enjoys both basic and applied research, evaluation work, and multidisciplinary collaboration. She believes research can bring social justice and changes in people’s lives. Raisa began graduate school to study the predictors of academic achievement of first-year undergraduates. Her works focus on undergraduates’ cognitive, social and emotional factors that impact academic achievement, motivation, identity, and retention. Her research interests include (a) the assessment of interventions to improve STEM education with a focus on equity for diverse learners (b) design-based research focusing on teaching and learning K-16 (c) program evaluation, research methodology, and data analysis in social, cognitive, and emotional development and mental health contexts.Read less
