Department of Zoology
Mandira Mukutmoni is an early career researcher of parasitology. Following undergraduate studies at the Department of Zoology, University of Dhaka, Mukutmoni undertook her masters in Parasitology stream in 2014. She joined the same institution as a lecturer in 2017. Mukutmoni is interested in neglected tropical diseases (NTDs). Her major research focuses on knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) assessment of underprivileged community regarding soil transmitted helminths in Bangladesh. Zoonotic parasites of public health concern are also her area of interest. She aspires to develop her career creating One Health approaches to accomplish optimal health for all the living beings. Currently, she is running a project to evaluate maternal knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) on the prevention of intestinal parasitic infections in shantytowns of Bangladesh. Earlier, she ran some projects concerning parasitic zoonoses. Most of her research works are funded by the University Grants Commission and Ministry of Science and Technology of Bangladesh. She plans to extend her work on neglected tropical diseases where intervention studies will be conducted to generate data which can eventually update the current health policy for more effective and sustainable disease control strategies.Read less
