Department of Zoology
Dr Barua has extensive academic and research experience with broad lab-based and field-based knowledge on tropical diseases. She obtained her PhD Degree from the Department of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences of the University of Melbourne specializing in medical parasitology, humoral immunology and immunochemistry. She investigated immunity to malaria in children from different geographical locations and identified targets of antibody which could form future malaria vaccines. Her research focuses mainly on young children and pregnant women as they are more vulnerable to emerging infectious diseases and tropical diseases.Read less
