A fifteen-member delegation led by Dr. Masaki Todo, Senior Advisor of Global Environment Department of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan today August 24, 2025 at the VC’s meeting room of the university.

Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) of DU Prof. Dr. Sayema Haque Bidisha, Treasurer Prof. Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury and Chairperson of DU Meteorology Department Dr. Fatima Akter were present on this occasion.

During the meeting they discussed the possibilities of undertaking a project on “Development of a High-Accuracy Flood Forecast System for the Haor Region in Northeastern Bangladesh” with the financial and technical support from JICA. Dhaka University will play role as implementing institution of this project. They agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in this regard soon.

 Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan thanked the JICA delegation members for their proposal of a development project. He expressed his willingness to work with JICA to promote academic and research activities at DU.
