Nanotechnology has been recognized as one of the Key Enabling Technologies of the 21 st
century. It has a major impact on each and every branch of science and technology. It is a must to
involve the field of nanotechnology to accomplish Sustainable Development Goals 2030 and
Bangladesh Delta Plans 2100. From such enthusiasm, an initiative has been taken by Dhaka
University to establish the Dhaka University Nanotechnology Centre (DUNC). Recommended
by the academic council and according to the syndicate meeting, DUNC was founded on 30
October 2022. This centre was founded with the vision of harnessing the immense potential of
nanoscale science and engineering to address critical challenges and drive innovation across
various industries and services. It will help to establish a strong industry-academia collaboration
and connect the Bangladeshi researchers of nanotechnology in the same platform working at
home and abroad. This centre will not only connect Bangladesh to the global village but also
lead the nanotechnology of this country. The ultimate goal is to leverage the potential of
nanotechnology for the betterment of society, contributing to economic growth, improved
healthcare, and sustainable development in the nation.
