16 November, 2024: The highly anticipated CSEDU Intra Department Debate Contest 2024, organized by the CSEDU Students’ Club was successfully held on November 16 at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering premises. The event showcased the debating skills of our students and created a competitive environment of intellectual exchange and critical thinking.

The event was held in knockout format. In the preliminary round eight teams participated and provided their valuable insights on the Debate motion. The top four teams who were able to mark their position with their powerful arguments were selected for the Semi-final round.

From the semi-final round, the top two teams Devil’s Advocate (30th Batch) and DU_Echo_Chamber (27th batch)  earned their position in Final Round.The final debate focused on  ,“ এই সংসদ, তরুণদের মধ্যে “ The greatest Bangladeshi dream is to leave Bangladesh”-এই ধরনের বহুল  প্রচারে অনুতপ্ত”.

Both teams gave outstanding performances, showcasing their debating skills and compelling arguments.However, DU_Echo_Chamber (27th Batch) emerged as the Champion, while Devil’s Advocate (30th batch) secured the Runners-up position.

Additionally, Md. Sadman Sakib Mahib (27th Batch) was recognized as the Best Debater of the final round, earning praise for his exceptional presentation and impactful arguments.

The contest concluded with an inspiring speech by the Honorable Chairman of the Department, Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaque. He praised the participants for their remarkable performance and inspired them to participate in such events. The judges were recognized with awards to thank them for their invaluable contribution to the event. The panel of judges included Mahfuza Mahbub Naoshin, President of Kabi Sufia Kamal Hall Debating Club, Mohammad Amir Uddin Bhuiya (Mahi), Former President of Salimullah Muslim Hall Debating Club, Md Azizul Haque Dihan, Former President of Muktijoddha Ziaur Rahman Hall Debating Club, Fariha Nowshin, Debater at Kabi Sufia Kamal Hall Debating Club, Khalid Saifullah, Joint Secretary of House of Debaters, Shahid Sergeant Zahurul Huq Hall, University of Dhaka.

Additionally, Azaher Uddin Anik, an alumnus of CSEDU and pioneer of Debate at CSEDU, Former Debater of Notre Dame College was present among us as Special Guest. His unique perspective on this event made the event more glorious.

The event was successful through the unwavering support and coordination of the student advisors, Mr. Md. Fahim Arefin and Dr. Mosarrat Jahan. Their dedication ensured that everything ran smoothly. The overall supervision and guidance of  Prof. Dr. Upama Kabir,  Honorable Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology enhanced the event’s success. Their collective efforts made the event memorable and marvelous. The event was filled with intelligent disputes, creative ideas, and an open platform for discussing issues relevant to the current climate.
