Professor Dr. Md Hasinur Rahaman Khan of the Institute of Applied Statistics and Data Science (IASDS), University of Dhaka, delivered a keynote speech at the international conference “Emerging Trends and Applications in Statistics and Data Science,” held at Kathmandu University, Nepal, from 19–21 September 2026. The conference was jointly organized by the Nepal Statistical Society and the Department of Mathematics, Kathmandu University, and was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of Kathmandu University. Professor Khan participated in the conference as an invited keynote speaker.
Professor Khan delivered his keynote address titled “From Static to Dynamic Survival Prediction: Bridging Landmarking, Competing Risks, and Machine Learning.” His presentation focused on recent developments in dynamic survival prediction and the integration of modern statistical methodologies with machine-learning approaches, particularly landmarking, longitudinal information, competing risks, and flexible machine-learning techniques.
The conference brought together statisticians, data scientists, researchers, academics, and students, providing an international platform for exchanging contemporary research ideas and methodological developments in statistics, data science, and artificial intelligence. It also provided opportunities for scholarly interaction, research collaboration, and academic networking among participants.
