The ISLM Career Counseling Club (ISLM3C) of the Department of Information Science and Library Management (ISLM), University of Dhaka, organized a session titled "Exploring Higher Studies Opportunities in Australia: Your Pathway to Global Success." Approximately 100 students from various semesters attended the session and enthusiastically engaged in discussions about higher education opportunities, challenges, and future prospects shared by the speaker. Mrs. Rowshon Akter, a faculty member of the ISLM Department and a recipient of the Australian Leadership Award (2022–2024) shared her experiences from the application process to life in Australia. Her talk focused on key areas such as the Australian education system, scholarship opportunities, selecting universities, and her personal journey abroad. She emphasized the importance of graduate students planning their careers strategically, highlighting that research monographs, master’s theses, publications, and social or voluntary work can significantly enhance their chances of securing scholarships. Additionally, she encouraged students to acquire ICT skills and programming knowledge as part of their preparation. The session brought joy and inspiration to the students, who expressed their eagerness to participate in more events like this.
The club advisors and officers announced their plan to organize another session in January 2025. The ISLM3C committee members, including Md. Tanbirul Islam (Club Secretary), Fariha Tasnim Shrawti (Communication Officer), Nurul Anower Apple (Webmaster Officer - 1), Iffat Nowshin Joye (Webmaster Officer - 2), and Shihab Morshed (Social Media Officer), along with club advisors Professor Dr. Md. Shiful Islam and Professor Dr. Md. Anwarul Islam were present and conducted session. Professor Dr. Roknuzzaman, Chairman of the ISLM Department, welcomed all attendees at the beginning of the session. The program concluded with a vote of thanks, recognizing the tireless efforts of the committee members who worked diligently to make the event a success.
