A seminar focused on disseminating findings from the project titled "Initiatives of Public Libraries of Bangladesh in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals: Current Status and Future Strategies" took place on September 25, 2025, at 3:00 PM in Room #1007 of the Arts Building at the Department of Information Science and Library Management, University of Dhaka. The project was funded by the UGC.
Professor Md. Roknuzzaman, PhD, Principal Investigator (PI) and Chairman, Dept. of Information Science and Library Management, University of Dhaka, presented the findings before the audience.
The discussion featured Dr. Md Anwarul Islam, Professor, Department of Information Science and Library Management, University of Dhaka; Ms. Rowshon Akter, Associate Professor, Dept. of Information Science and Library Management, University of Dhaka; and Mr. Khondkar Asif Mahtab, Senior Librarian, Department of Public Libraries, Shahbagh, Dhaka.
The seminar aimed to foster collaboration and share innovative strategies to enhance the impact of library services on community development. The event brought together scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to discuss the crucial role of public libraries in promoting sustainable development goals. Attendees engaged in dynamic discussions about innovative strategies and collaborative efforts necessary to enhance library services and outreach in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks from the seminar chair, Professor Dr. S. M. Zabed Ahmed, and the event was anchored by Susmita Saha, Co-Investigator (Co-I) and Lecturer of the Department.
