On February 2, 2025, a workshop was held between the Department of Meteorology, University of Dhaka, and the Bangladesh Navy. During the event, both parties expressed their hope for enhancing mutual relationships and collaboration in various fields, including research, data exchange, training programs, and the organization of joint workshops. They anticipated that these efforts would help expand cooperation in the future. Dr. Fatima Akter, the Head of the Department of Meteorology, chaired the session. Our Special Guest was Former Professor Dr. Quamrul Ahsan from The Institute of Water and Flood Management (IWFM), BUET, Dhaka, and currently he is the President of HydroSys Modeling, Inc., USA. He also presented an excellent presentation. The Bangladesh Navy delegation included Captain Rezaur Rahman (H1), NUP, psc, BN, the Commanding Officer of the Bangladesh Navy Hydrographic and Oceanographic Center, along with Lieutenant Commander Md Tanvir Rahman (H2), BN, Staff Officer Meteorology to the Chief Hydrographer, and Lieutenant Commander Rashedul Alam (Edn)(H4), BN. Among the faculty members of the Department of Meteorology, University of Dhaka, were Assistant Professor Md. Momin Islam, Dr. Shammi Akhter, Dr. Md. Rabiul Awal, Shabista Yildiz, Pronab Das, and Part-Time Faculty Dr. Mohan Kumar Das. At the end of the workshop, the Bangladesh Navy delegation visited the Department of Meteorology’s research laboratory, server room, and satellite ground station.
