The Department of Disaster Science and Climate Resilience was renamed in December 29, 2021 from Department of Disaster Science and Management, which in turn started its journey in 2012. We integrate earth science, social science, and engineering in order to generate multidisciplinary and comprehensive knowledge and skills, to understand and address complex risk and emergency scenerios and eventually create a resilient society. The evolution of the department's name is a reflection of the importance given to climate change studies, along with hazard science and disaster management.
