Completion of M.Phil Applicants who have M.Phil Degree not from University of Dhaka or any other Public University of Bangladesh then they have to apply for equivalence to the Degree Equivalence Committee. |

Four years Honours and 1 year Masters (From University of Dhaka or any other Public University of Bangladesh). Applicants who have completed their Honours and Masters from any Private University then they first have to complete M.Phil before then they will be eligible to apply for PhD. Applicant must have at least one publication (single author). Applicant must have minimum 2nd Class/Division/50% Marks. In case of CGPA 3.00 out of 4.00 and 3.5 out of 5.00. |

Applications of the Applicants from other subjects (Honours and Masters) should be approved in the academic committee meeting of the Department and the Sub-PhD Committee of the Faculty. |
About the PhD Program: The Ph.D. program will consist of (a) written examinations on approved courses (b) submission of dissertation on an approved topic and (c) an oral examination. The department will offer a number of courses covering in the first year of Ph.D. from which a student will have to take courses covering 6 credits recommended by the respective supervisor(s).There exists an opportunity to take an optional theory course (Non-credit) if a candidate is interested.
Final Degree Eligibility: There will be written examinations on the approved courses at the end of the year, the passing grade will be minimum C+ (The grading range is given below). In addition, the student will be required to carry out research on specific topic approved by the supervisor(s) for at least two years. During this research work, the student will offer at least two seminars to receive feedbacks from the teachers and students of the department. Then, the student will submit a thesis with the written approval of the supervisor(s). Finally, the student will have to appear at an oral examination provided that his/her thesis is recommended for acceptance by the examiners. However, common rules and practices of the University of Dhaka would be applicable for Ph.D. candidate.
